Dia-Media – We met Rasha in January 2006; an ambitious young Arab woman with a background in finance for luxury goods. Rasha had put together an excellent financial model for a TV media venture. She was looking to launch the venture in the UAE. We worked with Rasha to validate her ideas, expand the market research, create a launch plan, build an operational model suitable for her business, connect her with advisors and potential business partners and deliver a succinct and marketable business plan and presentation. We supported Rasha in strategic decisions that have positioned her as a unique service provider in the commercial internet space.
Social Entrepreneurship Support
Tawasul – We met Ernst in January 2008; a dive instructor, an environmental entrepreneur with a vision to engage corporates, government bodies, schools and the community in a marine ecology and conservation program designed for youth. His program uses diving as a learning medium to raise awareness on marine ecology and engage youth in reef adoption and monitoring programs. Ernst is passionate about his project and potential social and environmental benefits it provided to those involved. Yet despite the brilliant program and wonderful goals, Ernst found it challenging to gain support.
We support Ernst by developing a plan, conducting a stakeholder engagement workshop to validate the plan, launching the program with local schools on the ground and through an online social community put together and amanged by Baraka TEAM, out technology and new media arm.. To date, more than 200 kids have been trained through the program with support from volunteer instructors, local NGOs and international advisors.
NGO Support
PCRF - In January 2006, we had a vision to create a program that helped children in need across the Middle East. During that time, we activity pursued medical support for a young Iraqi girl, Asia. We came across Steve Sosebee the founder of the PCRF, a US-based NGO established to provide needy Arab children with medical care & surgery. The PCRF had recently started sending children for surgery to Dubai.
The Dubai PCRF team was working hard, and needed support. We assisted them by recommending a series of programs and connecting them with activity service providers. We coordinated a volunteer beach-side program where Dubai Teens participated in sports activities with visiting Palestinian children/limb recipients.
We built an online social community through Baraka TEAM to support the flurry of communication required to support the medical missions and the activities around them.
Reaching U - We met Nick Watson in January of 2007. Nick was expanding is business and used Baraka Consulting Services to build a business plan and outsource his operational and administrative support services. Nick had a vision to build a corporate outreach program designed to raise awareness in the community on special needs. Nicks vision was to show that people with special needs can be and are active members of the community. The program included a trip Malaysia with two nationals with special needs to climb mount kinabalu (4,096 Meters). The goal was to highlight the great capabilities of those with special needs.
The program also included a Jumeirah Beach Park Event, bringing the community of special needs together with mainstream children for a day of fun and activities. Funds raised at the event went to the Rashid Pediatrics Center.
We supported Nick through fundraising, securing corporate sponsorships, planning activity, networking, participating, and facilitating the development of the reaching U website.
